Grounds and Terrain
The zoo is located in a steep, mountainous area of the Big Bear Valley. It is at a high elevation and is located next to a ski area that blows snow most evenings. During the winter months, the pathways are often icy and slippery. We do what we can to cut down on the slip factor, but we recommend that our guest wear appropriate footwear (snow boots) with a good tread for grip.
Protect and Respect
Please do not feed the animals. All of our animals are on a special diet in order to stay healthy. The wrong food can make them very sick.
It is also very important that you do not touch any of our animals. Remember that they are wild animals and if they should bite you, they could be euthanized and tested for rabies as required by the Department of Health. Please protect their lives by keeping your fingers outside of their enclosures.
On Zoo Grounds Commercial Photography
Big Bear Alpine Zoo reserves the right to photograph, videotape or film our visitors, on Zoo grounds, for self-promotional purposes.
The commercial use of photographs, video, and film taken during your visit is strictly prohibited without the written concent of the Big Bear Alpine Zoo and the County of San Bernardino.
